History
Morrison Utility Services has a long history that can be traced back to 1884.
- 1884 – Biggs Wall founded.
- 1948 – Morrison Construction founded in Tain, Scotland.
- 1980's – Charter Consolidated acquired 100% of Biggs Wall, 100% of Shand Construction and 80% of Morrison Construction. The Morrison family owned the remaining 20% of Morrison Construction.
- 1989 – The Morrison family acquired the remaining 80% of Morrison Construction as well as Biggs Wall and Shand Construction. The three companies merged into one under the name Morrison Construction.
- 1995 – Morrison Construction listed on the London Stock Exchange as Morrison Construction Plc.
- August 2000 – Morrison Construction purchased by AWG Plc and therefore Morrison Construction Plc became de-listed.
- March 2006 – The construction division of the business was sold to Galliford Try. Morrison Plc was formed as a support services business, trading with two divisions, Morrison Utility Services and Morrison Facilities Services.
- September 2006 – Osprey bought AWG Plc and therefore AWG Plc became de-listed.
- March 2008 – AWG sold Morrison Utility Services to two private equity firms, Cognetas and Englefield Capital. Morrison Utility Services becomes a standalone business.
