Morrison Utility Services and Wales and West Utilities help Somerset students pipe up with junk band creation

Students from Churchill Academy and Sixth Form School, Somerset, have been putting spare plastic gas pipes to good use for the school ‘junk’ band. The pipes were supplied by Morrison Utility Services and Wales & West Utilities. The band recently performed its first winter concert (pictured). Music Teacher, Andrew Tyrrell, says: “The band is formed of students who don't have formal music lessons and who may feel they're not 'musical' so this gives them an opportunity to participate in group music making. If junk band was, perhaps, the star of the show, then the pipes were the star of the junk band. I will definitely be investing in a new pair of ear plugs for next year though!”
