Delivering what we promise

Inventory Control System

The inventory control system is a key component in managing and tracking inventory on a number of our contracts.

The system was developed to meet a functional specification developed by our Business Process and Systems team alongside operational and commercial experts working on our Northern Powergrid and Yorkshire Water contracts.  The system is specifically tailored to Morrison Utility Services’ inventory control processes.

Handheld bar code scanners are at the heart of the system.  Through these devices inventory transactions are recorded.  Fully mobile, operatives carry the scanners around the stores capturing data for incoming parts from suppliers, parts issued to gangs and parts returned by teams.

Periodically throughout the day the scanners are ‘docked’ and the captured records are downloaded into a SQL database.  Transaction records along with stock levels across multiple stores can be easily accessed through a normal PC.
