We have appointed ten apprentices to our Yorkshire Water water networks contract.
Supported by dedicated mentors, the apprentices will undergo the Level 2 Diploma in Water Engineering (Network Construction Operations) as part of a long-term investment in skills.
The new apprentices will begin life as MUS employees undertaking two years of comprehensive tuition at a specialist training centre based in Carrington, where they will be taught appropriate, transferable knowledge, skills and competencies before progressing to practical, onsite experience alongside their new colleagues.
Charles Morrison, Chief Executive, Morrison Utility Services, commented: “The utility sector’s ageing workforce is well documented but the recruitment of fresh talent through apprenticeships schemes such as this ensures that we are well positioned to maintain our skills base in future years. Apprenticeships represent a key element of our long-term skills development and resourcing plans and our objective is to provide each apprentice with a thorough understanding of our business and to equip them with the specialist skills, knowledge and practical, hands-on experience required in order to make an effective contribution to our business and that of our clients.”
Ged Shannon, Executive Director, Morrison Utility Services, added: “Apprenticeships provide an exceptional opportunity for young people to acquire new skills and our focus on apprenticeship schemes is enabling us to develop some exceptional people who can make a significant contribution to our business. Our mission now is to provide our latest recruits with a working environment and a structured training pathway that will support their personal and professional development and enable them to fulfil their undoubted potential both now and in the future. I would like to wish each of them every success in their careers.”
