Morrison Utility Services (MUS) Area Manager Keely King has become the first MUS employee to be featured on The Telegraph’s ‘Top 50 Women in Engineering’ (WE50) list.
Keely, an Area Manager on the MUS tRIIO joint venture working on behalf of Cadent Gas, received her award at a high-profile event at the Royal Academy for Engineering on 26th June.
Receiving her award, Keely commented: “The WE50 winners represent the very broad range of routes it is possible to follow for a career in engineering. To be included in the 2018 WE50 list is a real honour for me. I’m a strong advocate for learning and development and I’ve worked hard to progress personally and to support other women in my network with engineering career aspirations. The number of female engineers is on the increase and the right encouragement will get more women into the sector as they see it as a great career choice to have.”
Kirsten Bodley, Chief Executive of the Women’s Engineering Society remarked: “The nominations were all amazing. For the Top 50, we looked for women who had overcome hurdles and returned to or transferred into/or across roles in engineering. In addition, they have all demonstrated that they are doing something to help support and inspire other women to succeed and progress in engineering whether it is working within their organisation through mentoring or inspiring young women through STEM activities for example.”
Keely entered the gas industry 10 years ago and progressed through various customer service and performance management roles before her current Area Manager role, in which she is responsible for delivering the East London replacement programme on behalf of Cadent.
