We have been named by road safety charity Brake as a double finalist for its 2015 Fleet Safety Awards.
The annual event recognises the achievements of fleet operators and suppliers who are working hard to reduce road crashes involving at-work drivers. This year’s awards have received a record number of award entries and fellow finalists include well-known names such as Johnson & Johnson, Royal Mail and Aldi.
Morrison Utility Services has been shortlisted in two categories –
• Fleet Safety Analysis and Action Award – in recognition of road traffic collision & fuel reduction programme
• Road Safety in the Community Award – in recognition of its acclaimed nationwide school safety campaign aimed at communicating key safety messages to primary school age children
Director of Plant and Fleet Services Jeremy Harrison commented: “We are delighted to have received this recognition from Brake for two very important initiatives that are delivering significant benefit to our business and to the communities that we work in.
“As a significant UK business with a fleet of approximately 2,500 vehicles, we are fully committed to the safety of our drivers and all those who come into contact with our business. Our road traffic collision (RTC) and fuel reduction programme is designed to encourage company vehicle drivers across the business to raise driving standards, whilst further reducing RTCs, fuel consumption and driver-related public complaints.
Equally pleasing is the recognition received for our school safety engagement programme that uses animated film, classroom discussion and accompanied site visits to deliver critical safety messages to a key, high-risk audience across the UK – primary school age children. This innovative initiative has now been incorporated into the community engagement strategies of a number of our clients which is a testament to its effectiveness and we are delighted to see it shortlisted for this prestigious award.”
Ellie Pearson, senior professional engagement officer at Brake, comments: “We have been thoroughly impressed with this year’s entries, with many companies entering our awards for the first time. It is fantastic that so many companies are making a real effort to end the needless crashes on our roads as a result of at-work drivers. Our judges are going to have a tough time choosing the winners and we wish all our finalists the best of luck and look forward to seeing them all at our awards dinner.”
The 2015 winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Birmingham in October.
