Morrison Utility Services district heating team to deliver key infrastructure project for university
Morrison Utility Services (MUS), the UK’s largest dedicated utility service provider, and part of M Group Services, has been awarded a £2m district heating project by the University of Manchester.
The investment will provide the University with a state of the art, sustainable energy solution that can support its energy, emission and environmental targets and provide robust power and heating solutions across its estate.
The project will be undertaken by the MUS district heating team and will include the construction and commissioning of an extension to the University’s existing district heating network, as well as its steam mains. The programme of works will include all civils and mechanical installation, as well as connections to both new and existing faculty buildings. Work will begin this month and is scheduled for completion in June 2019.

“We look forward to the delivery of this next stage, which will play an important role in our Campus Masterplan creating world-class facilities for staff, students and visitors.”

Meticulous planning will be essential and ourproject team will work closely with a number of the University’s faculties to ensure disruption to students and staff is kept to a minimum.”
Morrison Utility Services’ district heating team works with clients to deliver low-carbon networks in both steel and flexible systems. The service portfolio includes all associated mechanical and electrical works, construction of energy centres, installation of district heating pipework, and customer connection works.
